    1. The study train is about a boy trying to find his place in the world Ethan is a lonely teenage boy when he is offered the chance of his dreams, which is to escape his miserable existence On this magical train, he is offered love and respect However, he is also taught how to use powers he never thought possible Those powers light the dark fire inside him and he soon finds a battle between good and evil waging within his own mind This was a fun read I could easily see it as a children s or young a [...]

    2. Reunion of the Untouchables by Kurt Frenier is book one in The Study Train series Five hundred years ago Master Magician Mikhail Pillington III created a magical flying Study train to teach exceptional children for eight years to take their place as world leaders.Ethan s life has never been a happy one At school he in a virtual loner and his parents have no desire to give him than the bare minimum of their time or lives The only joy in Ethan s life is the time he spends alone in the ruins of a [...]

    3. I never realized it, but reading this book was fast Really fast I didn t even realize I was close to the finish until I saw how many pages I had left to read It was most definitely a story that can keep your attention and literally does take you for a ride What I found really interesting in this novel is Ethan main character has issues A lot of issues He s been bullied, his family life at home isn t so great, so he retreats to the old ruins for escape Even with these sorts of issues you do feel [...]

    4. Ethan is a young teenager in Switzerland who has a rough childhood His dad is unemployed and his mom works 2 jobs to keep the house going He only sees her on the weekends and even then they hardly say a word to each other His dad is so rough on him and belittles Ethan so much how could you tell there was any love The kids and teachers at his school torment and bully him there as well Then one day Ethan gets an invitation to join The Study Train in hopes things will change for the better with pro [...]

    5. This book was sent to by the author for review It was a very fast, fun and enjoyable read I devoured it in a couple of hours The plot has similarities to the Harry Potter saga, but is nowhere near the same story Kurt Frenier has created a magical world within our mundane world that is sure to delight YA enthusiasts as well as lovers of J.K Rowling s Harry Potter There are many characters in this book that I would like to read much about Because of the ending, the author has left plenty of room [...]

    6. The premise of this story is not too dissimilar to Harry Potter in that Ethan is marginalised and lost before being taken to a magical education establishment and taken under the wing of a benevolent 500 year old and please don t crucify me for not knowing how old Dumbledore is While the comparison is an obvious one, the book is distinct enough that it doesn t feel like an imitation, just nicely reminiscent. The good vs evil theme is as prevalent as ever but what is rather unique for a book aimed [...]

    7. Ethan s life stinks A young teenager, he hates school He is one of those kids that are sought out, ridiculled, mocked and he has no desire to learn things like math, economics, science and His home life is no picnic His dad, an unemployed car salesman, stays home all day taking care of the house and the cooking and his mom works two jobs trying to make ends meet Ethan only sees his mom on the weekends, and his dad has strict rules and is always angry Ethan would rather take his chances at schoo [...]

    9. To begin with, this book is definitely not what I would classify as Young Adult The level of writing and the story is, at best, closer to juvenile fiction There is very little conflict and tension throughout the book, and the writing is quite cliche There is next to no character development, with the exception of the main character I found the most interesting character to be Alesia, who is not introduced until nearly the end Other characters are not defined to give them a personality the reason [...]

    10. This is the story of Ethan, a 16 year old Swiss boy He is unwanted by his parents and not accepted by his classmates nor by his community After school, he lives in a fantasy world where he is the supreme ruler and he can punish those who have harassed him.One day he receives a most unusual invitation He is invited to embark on an eight year train journey of travel, education, and discovery. This YA novel explores the value of friendship along with the choice between good and evil This was an enjo [...]

    11. Actual rating 3.5Ethan, a teenager, is living a rather dismal life in Switzerland, because he has uncaring parents and does poorly in school When a magical train comes to pick him up and Lord Althulos, the master of the train, offers him a place on the train with other special teen, Ethan jumps at the chance Master Magician Mikhail Pinlkington III had created the train to fly around the world and teach teens to become great leaders, and Ethan is one of the chosen few Unfortunately, there is a da [...]

    12. REVIEWThe Study Train was a good and a not so good book for me The good was that I enjoyed reading about Ethan s transformation once he was on the train I liked that he had to make choices between good and evil The overall idea of the story was good a magical train where teens are trained to be leaders and they uncover ancient secrets. The not so good is that I would have liked it much better if the story was told from Ethan s point of view rather than third person I would have felt much connect [...]

    13. The author sent me a copy of this book for review and it took me awhile before I read this Unfortunately, it didn t work for me.I liked the idea of the study train, the concept and story was promising I can t help but compare it with Harry Potter because of some similarities like Ethan being a total loser then an arrogant ass, who happens to be very powerful but it ends there.Mr Frenier s writing style is fluid and easy to understand, but he didn t delve on details The powers he wrote about were [...]

    14. This was overall a nice read The writing style was easy to understand, and made for very smooth reading The book was a little short, which led to some slightly shallow characters, but it wasn t too bad considering it was the author s first novel The story itself was interesting, and I liked the idea of the StudyTrain and its travelers I didn t much care for Ethan s dealings with the Untouchables, because it didn t make much sense as to why he was with them This is a good book to read in your fre [...]

    15. I wanted to like this book I really did But it didn t happen I felt the book ignored the show, don t tell rule and all I got was this happened I didn t connect with Ethan as a character and felt that the interaction between him and the other people on the train, including the headmaster, didn t make sense And it really bugs me that it isn t mentioned what it is exactly that they re studying on the Study Train that makes them world leaders if they complete the programme, not once does Frenier tel [...]

    16. Was not for me, I don t think I can see the comparisons to Harry Potter but it s told in a 3rd person POV which switched occasionally it seemed to a first person POV, which was weird and hard to read.
