    1. The Apotheosis Break is an adventuristic tale, which follows the journey of fourteen year old Vasili Mikhailovich, who lives in his father s shadow Vasili, a smart and at times clumsy lad, has his bravery tested when he refuses to join the Emperor s army and instead finds himself hopping aboard an air ship with a band of misfits for a crew. This story is all about expectations, mystery, and fighting for your right to choose your own path in life The author has a grand and at times sarcastic style [...]

    2. I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review Look, my favorite movie as a kid was Treasure Planet This book could not be any up my alley All the fun and adventure of a middle grade novel, coupled with realistic characters and wonderful worldbuilding what s not to love Vasili is sweet and brave and utterly root for able His idealism amidst a bunch of jaded, foul mouthed airship sailors kept the story lighthearted without it feeling too much like a fairytale a nice change of pa [...]

    3. Awesome debut Interesting characters and fun world building, can t wait to see how things develop further in the next installment Tons of ideas teased that I m looking forward to being revealed

    4. Intriguing character development Took me on an adventure and left me wanting to read Can t wait for the next book to unravel the mysteries hinted at in book 1.

    5. Rated as 4.5 stars.I was very impressed with this debut Good worldbuilding, a fresh take on a known protagonist trope, an exciting and at times surprising story this book was a treat to read This book starts off in a way that makes you think you know where the story is going, but slowly starts shifting away And then at one sudden point, you know you were wrong at the beginning and the authors are on a rather different track I enjoy being surprised All too often certain parts of books pan out too [...]

    6. If you read enough fantasy speculative fiction, eventually you begin to feel as though you have seen all the general premises Therefore it is always such a great delight to find a new book with a refreshing premise In The Apotheosis Break, we encounter a world of flying airships powered by a mysterious substance and used to transport goods and wage war Our narrator is the son of a military hero raised in a backwater village What he thinks he knows about airships, the war, the empire, his father, [...]

    7. Disclaimer I received a copy from the Authors, this does not affect my review in anyway Review Where do I start This has to be one of the best indie books that I have read Period Good start Good then stick with me as I ramble onward and upwards It started off very much on line with most common Young Adult books A boy and a girl Boy likes girl, girl doesn t like boy in that way I liked how that whole relationship and part of the story played out Not everything is sunshine and flowers. What this bo [...]

    8. I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review I m just going to come right out and say it I really liked this book I just wish the cover was better different, because it does no justice to the exciting story held within Rhoades and Rutledge craft a fun story with a wide variety of deeply complicated characters that all feel whole and complete, like if I were to bring Vasili s mother or the innkeeper aside to have a chat, they d be able to without floundering for words The au [...]

    9. I ll begin by saying that I know the author, Mike Rutledge, meaning I m a bit positively biased towards the book But in all honesty, and as a lover of good sci fi, Mike and Josh set up a really wonderful world for the book It s like steam punk without actually being steam punk There are multiple cultures, languages, continents, maps and pictures of the ship within the book It s all really carefully laid out and that shows The characters are also really interesting and it s easy to remember yours [...]

    10. You ever experience a story that s in the wrong medium I have The Maze Runner, of which I only saw the movies, should have been a video game The Cursed Child had no business being published and should have remained a live play only And The Apotheosis Break is a story fit for a graphic novel It was obvious to me as I was reading it that I was missing a key component of the story that a visual medium such as a graphic novel would have given me, and many of the weaknesses of the book would have bee [...]
